Is LinkedIn Search Becoming Too Ad Focused

LinkedIn has become one of the most popular social media platforms for professionals seeking to advance their careers, network with colleagues, and connect with potential employers. However, users have recently noticed an increasing number of ads on the LinkedIn search page, which can be frustrating and time-consuming to navigate.

The LinkedIn search page is a valuable tool for users looking to find job opportunities, connect with others in their industry, and stay up-to-date on the latest news and trends. However, with the increasing number of ads on the page, users are finding it harder to find the content they are looking for.

One of the main issues with the ads on the LinkedIn search page is that they often take up a significant portion of the screen real estate, making it difficult to see the search results. This can be frustrating for users who are trying to quickly find relevant content and can lead to a less than optimal user experience.

For example, please see the below screenshot of LinkedIn page.

I see 16 ads in 21 search results, which is 76% ads in first page.

Another issue is that the ads on the LinkedIn search page are often not relevant to the user’s search criteria. For example, a user searching for “software engineer jobs” may be shown ads for unrelated products or services, which can be frustrating and distracting.

There are a few ways that LinkedIn could improve the search page experience for users. One approach would be to limit the number of ads shown on the search page and ensure that they are relevant to the user’s search criteria. Another approach would be to offer users the option to pay for an ad-free version of the platform.

Hope someone from LinkedIn team addresses this issue.
